Holy Hell, this article pissed this allergy mom off!! Be WARNED!!!

Kline's second round of allergy testing age 1

This lady's callous article about food allergies and treats at school pissed me off so badly! So be warned, I will be cussing, as that's what I do to vent! Sorry to offend, I normally offend anyway so nothing new there!

Here is her asinine article

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/todays-mama/why-do-your-kids-allergies-mean-my-kid-cant-have-a-birthday_b_4767686.html

Wtf? really, lady!!!!

The way this woman sweeps our children's deadly and sickness causing food allergies under the rug all for a slice of cake, is insane.  The way she put less weight on intolerance because they are not life threatening that is crazy...so its OK if your kid eats cake and breaks out in itchy hives or pukes for 3 days after wards, at least they didn't die?

What if her son really loved to read, and more than anything for his birthday he wanted everyone in his class to read out loud to him...how would the parents with kids with learning disabilities feel..their kid is now being singled out in front of the whole class of their differences, their imperfections. No, the teacher wouldn't let that happen!  The teach would do their best to make the LD kid feel normal, and comfortable, as they should!  Why would that not be the same for allergy kids?

What about the kids with diabetes ...should they be singled out too with not being able to eat her dang 'real sugar' cupcakes!  Hey, lets put all the kids that can't eat your sons cupcakes in the corner with signs that say "I am different, something is wrong with me!' while your son enjoy his wonderful sugar fill, gluten filled cupcakes! I thought segregation ended years ago, but I guess I am wrong!

It's Bad enough my kid will have to sit at a special nut free table at school! Carry an epi pen and possible have to use it someday.

It's bad enough, I will have to worry day in and day out about him at lunch time, snack time, field trips, practices of any kind, ski camp, ok,  pretty much anytime I am not with him, there for protection.. oh my am I a smother mother? Hell yeah!!! You have to be with an allergy kid!!!.

It's bad enough my son won't be able to go to sleepovers and birthday parties outside of school with out me watching out for him or prepacking all of the foods he can eat.

Food is dangerous for Kline, he is anaphalactic to dairy, eggs and all nuts.

Lady, do you know how many freaking time Kline hears,

"No You can't eat that!"

'Wait till I read the ingredients"

"Sorry, honey we can't go out to the restaurant with your friend, they have nothing safe for you to eat there.'

I understand that people will not get this ever 100% unless their kid suffers from it, but come on have a little heart! A little sympathy...your kid may not be able to eat a EGG LACED, GLUTEN LACED, DAIRY LACED cupcake at school but mine never will be able to eat a cupcake at school! EVER! Or any other time either!  He also will never be able to eat school lunch, attend a pizza party, or a pancake breakfast with Santa, and don't even get me started on real egg egg-hunts at Easter....
that's just death in the grass!

Lady, if your biggest complaint in life is that your son can not eat a cupcake in class on his birthday....why the fuck complain? Of all the terrible, horrible fucked up things that are going on in the world..and all the children suffering in the world, your son not being able to eat a cupcake just does not seem to matter!  GET A FUCKING CLUE!

I have changed since watching Kline suffer so much, I CAN'T STAND STUPID SELFISH PEOPLE!

In my opinion schools should not celebrate with food of any kind!!!! Lets train our kids that happiness and celebration does not come from food, but who you are with,  what you are doing, and taking others into consideration. Lets teach our kids what life should really be about, family, friends, being healthy, not what tastes good!

ps. I in no way am saying parents in my son's class should by or bring in foods that are ok for Kline to eat. I know how expensive allergy foods are and how stressful it is to shop for him.  I think if we do away with the treats, that would solve the problem all together! Plus, I would never trust another parent to make something for Kline unless they were my really best friends and got it, which thankfully they do!!!!

Sorry for the vent, but I had to get that shit out!!

One angry allergy mom, Loren

  1. I am surprised you didn't write Ren more paragraphs. Definitely on yourside...eery where we go there are peanuts and tree nuts. Today my grad daughter was at smiling lessons and there were pistachio shells on the floor of the locker room..come on now how stupid. It's terrible for the allergic child to even have to be careful because people are piggy sand sloppy.

  2. Wow....... my son has a peanut soy sesame almond allergy and has an epi. But even before I had him I made sure to always bring allergy free items to my older( allergy free ) child's pre k could not live with myself knowing I caused the death of someone's child as an adult with allergies if u have the choice to refrain from certain things and situations a child in school wants to b like everyone else and it's bad enough they r singled out Cuz of there allergies but it's a double slap in the face when they have to watch everyone else have a birthday snack it's not their fault that for lack of a better word they have a disability. ....it's just an unspoken understanding from one mom to the next to be respectful of my kids disability ......that bitch

  3. Right on! Her article was bullshit! My child is not of school age yet, but if anyone ever tried to cause confrontation with this argument I'd have to meet them outside! I could not imagine ever making a child bad about themselves all because you want to eat a freakiny cupcake! That lady is obviously extremely uneducated of the dangers of non ANA allergies/intolerances. The thought of someone ever saying something like this about my child infuriates me!

  4. Right on Loren! I had an epiphany just yesterday while we were at Wegman's, a very nice grocery store in out area; Walking past the bulk candy section I was smacked in the face with several types of nuts in bins with lids on them. No lock, no warnings about nut allergies, just out there for some little one to walk up, flip open the lid and get an ambulance ride for their life. I am going to send a letter to Wegman's, hope they respond correctly. Love you! Love 'em everyday! GPa

    1. Exactly dad...and what about the stores that grinde the nuts right there to make the nut butters......thankfully Kline isn't airborne allergic to nuts, but some people just walking into the store would kill them! Xoxox

  6. Loren you are so right. I can't even imagine what it is like for you and for Kline. It is something that the rest of us don't think about until we are forced to. I am glad that you wrote this because it lets me see things from a different point of view. But you are right - why can't birthday's be celebrated without snacks? And if you want your kid to have cupcakes, have them at the party that you throw at your house. Jacqueline's teacher doesn't allow snacks for birthdays. The kids send special cards for each other. Some parents grumbled about it but I just don't see what the big deal is. Why do snacks even have to be a part of celebrating at school, especially if it can be harmful to another child?

  7. I can so feel for Kline. My son has all those allergies as well and kiwi, banana and strawberry allergy as well. Very "kids-friendly" fruits there. Well, you cant let your kid out of sight.
If this woman is so keen to have her "normal" cake for her son, she could bake customised cakes for the child with allergy. I bet she is too lazy and stingy.

  8. Oh man, I would never have that lady cook for my kid..she would kill him on accident. Lol ;) I have no problem making Kline special treat for special, occasions but if food, treatsnweren't allowed it would be better health wise for everyone..and think of how the teacher would feel ot having 30 kids all jacked up on sugar crack! ;)

    1. Hi Stephanie, I'm actually concerned for your patients because you clearly know fuck all about this condition :)
My mother is a very well respected clinical nutritionist in Australia, and she guided my partner Jake through this condition - the same as Kline's, and he is now 100% healed. If you want to have a look please visit the documented story here www.eczemahealing.blogspot.com.au
Unfortunately, you think naturopathy is the be all and end all, well I'll tell you something.. your profession only helps a very tiny population on this earth, it is completely insignificant, and as you have proved here today, you have no knowledge of this condition so i'd advise you back the fuck up and do some research :)

    3. Stephanie, Stephanie, Stephanie. read the entire book before you "judge it by the cover" you obviously lack the education and common sense in several areas, especially the one I already mentioned. In addition, ARE YOU A MOTHER?????? How dare you be so hateful, how dare you be so cruel as to BLAME this women for her child's illness. We as women should embrace each other, lift each other up and comfort each other. Build ourselves up. Improve each others lives. Us as mother's should ALSO do the same thing. Loren is an amazing mother, she LOVES HER CHILDREN!!!! She would take on the evil existence of eczema if it meant that Kline did not suffer. My two year old is fighting the same thing, we are healing her gut, we are doing all these things that you say we should (when not one person asked for your damned unsolicited advice) Kline is DOING AMAZINGLY WELL compared to where he once was. I would die for my children, I would battle any disease in order for them to not suffer. You are a disgrace to women, and to natropathic dieticians everywhere. So get off your high horse and look in the mirror. I will pray that you find peace in your judgmental mind!

"I am a registered naturopathic dietician and I know that there IS a cure for food allergies. I have helped many clients heal, including children. You have to start by strengthening the junctions in the intestinal barrier and this will also stregthen the immune system. Antibiotics and medications will only make your children sicker because they destroy the intestinal lining and the immune system. Why haven't you taken your children to a doctor of naturopathic medicine? It would only take a few months for your children to improve. They don't have to live like this. This is your fault. Why are you making them suffer? I suspect that you are intentionally keeping them sick so that you can get sympathy and attention. I think you have Munchausen syndrome. You need help and I am very concerned for your children. I'm sure many other people see this too."

  14. Wow, Stephanie, way to sounds like a judgmental idiot. Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. What makes you think you should judge a person so harshly that you've never even met. I certainly wouldn't trust my health to a person like that. I feel sorry for your patients.

    2. Stephanie Yail. ...you may have removed your comment but I know exactly what it said. I highly doubt you're a troll and I have a feeling you'll be lurking just to see what other responses you may still get. That is typically the actions of a troll but you actually come across like you have some education. But the thing is you are not only insensitive and cruel, you are also showing that while you think you know what you're talking about, you actually didn't study too well. Accusing someone of Munchausen's syndrome is seriously wrong unless you have proof to back you up. But what you forgot was that it is Munchausen's by proxy you should be referring to. This shows your lack of intelligence. And just so you know I am a registered nurse who has seen both conditions first hand. It is a very disturbing thing indeed....but to accuse a stranger of this without fully investigating the entire situation makes you an inept practitioner. I may not know Loren in person but I do know she is a loving and selfless mother who is doing her utmost to help her son where doctors seriously failed. There is not one shred of evidence that would lead me to think of Munchausen's by proxy and I've been a nurse a very long time working in pediatric and emergency medicine. You need to not only remove yourself from this blog but you need to rethink whether you should be even dealing with the public if you have such defective knee jerk reactions.

  16. This post was a while a go (last month) and I didn't really read the article cos the title just pissed me off instantly. I have better things to read than pathetic articles like that. As for you, Stephanie Yail, go sit your bloody natropath course again or did u fucken buy ur qualification? How dare you fucken diagnose a child (and the mother WTF?!) when you havne't even SEEN the child or know what the fuck is ACTUALLY going on!!! How dare you say this shit to a mother. How dare you even say shit like this to anyone!!! You disgust me to death.

I hope you are doing well Loren and Kline xxx venting finished save energy for love and healing :)
